Services Provided by the Community Engagement Team ProgramsĀ

Volunteers

The IRC calls on people in the community to support the work of assisting our clients. These volunteers are not staff members; they are not paid. They are valued members of our teams. They give their time and resources freely with no expectation of compensation. In the United States, volunteering to help others is something that is part of a culture of caring for others. Some of our volunteers have been refugees or immigrants who want to do good and return to someone else the good things that they received when they arrived in the US.Ā Ā

You may meet volunteers sometimes who will come to your home or will be at the IRC office to assist you with meeting your needs. Some things that volunteers do at the IRC in Denver: provide transportation to newly arrived families to appointments, bring donated items from our warehouse, help clients with practical matters and fixing things, help with resume writing and job applications, setting up homes for new families with furniture and donated items, and assisting with set up and clean up at special events.

If you have a concern or question that they cannot answer, volunteers will advise you to contact IRC staff. If you are having difficulties with contacting the IRC, they can assist you in contacting the correct staff/team.

MentorshipĀ

This program is suspended until further notice. The Mentorship Program is an IRC program where you and your family connect with a Denver community member for more support. The goals of the program are to assist with community building, navigation, and English acquisition. The community members are volunteers and trained by the IRC.Ā Ā
