Support Groups

A support group is a gathering of people facing common issues that offer support, encouragement, and comfort. The groups that are listed below do not have an established partnership with the International Rescue Committee. The International Rescue Committee will not be able to help you with attending these support groups.


Realizing Resilience

Realizing Resilience is a client-centered mental health education program provided by Jewish Family Services. This program is open to anyone 14 years or older. The program provides education and resources to facilitate resilience, combat toxic stress, and encourages partipants to build individualized mental health toolboxes. Participants work with program staff for in-depth support alongside group programming. For more information:



Immigrant and Refugee Mental Health Program

The Immigrant and Refugee Mental Health Program at the University of Colorado Department of Psychiatry, Anschutz Medical Campus will begin holding support groups. For more information, please contact Farduus Ahmed: farduus.ahmed@cuanschutz.edu 



Roshini Light: Sew and Sing

A twice weekly 3 hour program for refugee/asylee women who have arrived here in the last 5 years. On Wednesdays we run wellness class and on Fridays we have a singing class. The purpose of the program is to promote positive wellbeing, teach English using alternative methods like conversations and songs and to teach a skill like sewing, with hope to provide economic opportunities in the sewing industry. 



Cultural Development & Wellness Center

The Center holds multiple groups: Skill training groups (for newcomers, to help them adjust to life in the U.S.), chronic illness management groups, elder wellness groups, and gardening groups. Each group caters to a specific language mainly in Nepali, Mandarin, Karen, and Burmese. For more information:



Ukranian Support Groups
